As part of the Walton County School District’s eSMART initiative, all students at MAHS have an iPad that is checked out through the Media Center. There is a $20 Optional Protection Plan offered this school year to cover any damages to the iPad. With the OPP, students are allowed to take their iPads to and from campus during the school year. Without the protection plan, students will not be allowed to take an iPad home but they may borrow one while on campus. Students who do not pay for the protection plan will be responsible for the full cost of the iPad repair or replacement.
Students can pay the OPP insurance by cash (exact change) or check (payable to Monroe Area High School). There is also an online payment option through My Payments Plus, https://mypaymentsplus.com. Parents can log onto an existing account or register for an account. This is the same payment system that has been used for the last few years for online meal payment.
Once the OPP has been paid and paperwork completed, students will be issued an iPad and a case. Freshmen and new students will also be issued an iPad charger.
Other Additional Information:
• Students who had a school issued iPad last year will need to bring their school issued iPad chargers with them on the first day of school. For students who have lost or broken chargers, they can purchase them in the MAHS Media Center ($5.00 for the block and $5.00 for the cable).
• Upperclassmen who still owe money for repairs or loss will not be able to take home an iPad until they have cleared their records.
• Students can use their personal iPads instead of the school issued iPads, but they are responsible for purchasing the apps needed for their classes including Pages, Keynote, iMovie, and Notability.
